How do I clean and care for my oil lamp?
With minimal care, your new oil lamp will provide bright light for years. It features a smooth-functioning solid brass burner by Gaudard of France. For best results please follow these simple procedures:
  1. Before fueling your lamp, trim the wick by burning it DRY until it is consumed evenly to the top of the burner tube. Repeat this procedure when flame becomes uneven after use.
  2. Fill the lamp with standard clear lamp oil, kerosene or synthetic kerosene (Not Paraffin,) and allow 1/2 hour for the wick to saturate. Remove the chimney and light the wick turned down very low. Replace the chimney, and allow a moment for the glass to warm before you adjust the wick higher. (Colored oil may discolor the lamp.) IMPORTANT NOTE: Lamp burners will continue to heat up and become more efficient after lighting. Do not make your final adjustment until after 10 minutes, or a high, sooty flame may result.
  3. If you have to turn up the wick frequently to maintain brightness, the lamp is too low on fuel. Extinguish the flame, and allow the lamp to cool before adding oil.
  4. The wick in an inactive lamp will become gummy from fuel evaporation in a year or so. Discard the old wick and oil, rinse the fount, and install a new wick.

How do I Care for my Gemstone Globe?
Care for the Globe - Most often all that is needed is a light dusting with a soft cloth. We would recommend a jeweler's or lint-free cloth. If a more thorough cleaning is needed, a mild dish washing detergent on a sponge or cloth with warm water (not hot) can be used on the globe surface. Rinse with fresh water on a sponge or cloth then dry with a lint-free towel or cloth. A soft cotton cloth dabbed with rubbing alcohol can also be used to shine and remove fingerprints on the globe only. Do not use rubbing alcohol on the stand as it is too harsh.

Care for the Stand - With a soft cotton cloth apply a small amount of hand lotion to remove finger prints. Use a clean dry soft cotton cloth to wipe away the hand lotion and shine.

Regular Maintenance - Normal dusting can be done with a Jeweler's Cloth. Caution: Chemical cleaners or polishes can damage the surface of the globe and stand.

If an item is out of stock, can I still order it?
Yes. You will need to contact us and provide information on the product you are looking for along with payment information. If for any reason we are unable to fill the order you will be notified and a full refund issued if payment had been processed.

Do I have to become a member to place an order?
No! During the checkout process you are given the option of becoming a member. This option is to ease the checkout process for returning customers. You can skip this step and go directly to the checkout process.

Why would I want to become a member?
When you choose to become a member, future purchases will be faster and easier as your checkout information is stored and will fill in automatically for you on your next purchase. As a member you will be allowed to have multiple "ship to" addresses on file.

How long will it take to ship my order?
More commonly stocked items will ship within 48hrs while more unique items may take one to two weeks. When possible, normal shiping times are noted in the products detail page. You will be notified of any shipping delays.

Can I have my order rush shipped?
In most cases, yes. If you require special shipping you will need to note that in the checkout process; We will accomodate all requests when possible. Any extra costs incurred will be the responsibility of the purchaser and must be paid prior to shipment.
